How will the audit work?
Before the day the Secured Environments assessor will ask for a full staff list. From this the assessor will select a cross section of staff to interview. We will need to speak to the nominated person on the senior management team with responsibility for security as well as the designated person with responsibility for security. We will then speak to a range of staff from across the organisation. It is essential that everyone is available on the day of the audit according to the agreed schedule. If there are changes to the schedule on the day of the audit, which are out of the control of the auditor and it is not possible to complete the audit according to the schedule, the organization will be liable for the extra costs which would be needed to complete the audit.
The audit will take at least a day, but if you have a large organisation with more than 200 employees it may take longer than this.
Within two weeks of the audit you will receive your audit feedback informing you whether you have passed and if not, which criteria you failed on.
You have 12 months from the date of your registration in which to apply for a Secured Environments audit, if you do not apply within this time you will have to pay to re-register.
